Thank you for visiting the Homestead Wife. This site features a homesteading and preparedness lifestyle. While the world was going on lockdown, we were tackling our dream of leaving California. We build a second home on our one acre property, moved in and remodeled our original home. We flipped them both to rentals, packed our bags and headed to Utah! Join us as we transform a 7 bedroom Victorian on a half acre to a thriving and producing homestead.
Follow us as we grow our own food, tend to our flock, make recipes from scratch and reach higher levels of self sufficiency. I hope to inspire and encourage others to return to a simpler, more natural self sufficient & prepared lifestyle.

Hello, I’m Amber! I’m a homesteading wife and mother of two with the third on the way. I have a background in security and law enforcement, specializing in criminal justice. I have been a first responder since 2001; completing training at local and state levels. I have completed several Red Cross programs as well as Community Emergency Response Training (CERT) from FEMA.
After witnessing corruption in my original field, I transitioned to a less aggressive career choice and way of life. In 2007, I became a state licensed Massage Therapist specializing in medical restorative massage practices. It was during this time that I studied natural ways of healing using medicinal herbs which started my love of gardening and the importance of producing local, homegrown food for my family. In 2014, I started this blog as a first generation, self-taught homesteader. After having the kids, this blog took a back seat but is now relaunching in Summer of 2024.
I hope you enjoy what you see here and are inspired to do or share your own homesteading adventures. Until then, take care. Xoxo
